1) autorhythmic cells :- exhibits pacemaker potential.

1%of total cardiac cells.

Mainly present in SA node.

Contains M2 receptor binding to Ach.

Here depolarisation is due inward diffusion of Ca2+ ions.

Repolarization is due outward diffusion of K+

Parasympathetic branch acts on this cells and slows down the conduction i.e decreases the heart rate.

2)contractile cells:- 99%of muscle cells.

Depolarisation is rapid due to inward diffusion of sodium.

Parasympathetic branches have little effect over it.
