Develop a portfolio of advertisements that illustrate how quality is used in promoting products and/or services. Select 3 different advertisements. These can be a copy from a magazine/web page or you can provide a description of an ad from the radio or television. For each ad answer the following:

  • Which quality perspective/s (judgmental, product, user, value, or manufacturing) is/are being utilized?
  • Is the ad effective? Why or why not?
  • Does this ad persuade you to buy the product? Why or why not?

Example 1- We can see the advertisement of Tide detergent powder in which the ad focuses on the quality of the washing powder to remove the dirt and stain and make the clothes whiter than other washing powder

In the given advertisement the main focus of the advertising is on the product perspective as the main focus remains on the power of the stain booster which helps in removing the dirt and stain from the cloths and they make the clothes cleaner and whiter in comparison to the other competing brands.

In my opinion, this ad is a typical monopoly of Tide and it has created goodwill for the product for a very long time.

This ad has convinced me to buy the product or at least to use once as there is a direct comparison of the washing quality with the other washing powder.

Example 2= Uber’s ad of Tap the app, get the ride. This is the ad describes that in order to get a cab to move from one location to another, the customer only need to tap on the smartphone and she will get the high-quality cabs.

This ad is focused on the value-based quality perspective of the service as this creates value to the customers with reference to the ease of transportation, time-saving and cost-effectiveness. I think this ad is also effective as it provides a very short but strong message that a ride can be received anytime and anywhere just by clicking the app

Yes, definitely it made me use the service of Uber as there is always a need for the ride and this ad provide me a reason to use the service

Example- Apple iPhone ad indicating the video and picture quality when it is taken from the iPhone

This ad focuses on the quality of the product’s functioning. The ad highlights the difference in the camera and picture quality when something being shoot using an iPhone. This ad clearly makes a difference with the camera quality of other smartphones

This ad is quite effective as it shows the pictures or videos taken by the common customers and it shows vivid picture quality

The ad is effective as it grabs the attention and highlights the difference in the technology and quality of the camera.
