1-The organization sustaining for more than 100 years in market is not easy because organization can open but the main task begin is to main that business for long term like Colgate Pamolive which is more than 100 even 200 years old founded in 1806. The characteristics which they show are-

These organization has strong focus on their mission and vision.

This the one characteristics which makes them run for long term because mission and vision set the goals and path to lead the organization on. if they are not focused on this then they will sustain in business for long.

These organization are adaptable and flexible-

The changes are inevitable and business faces changes in environment internal as well external so organization to run for such long period of time they has to adapt to these changes and accept those changes like if organization needs to change its organization structure because business demands are increasing and customers are demading more than it needs to change its structure by opening new business units.

these organization structure has strong business culture-

Business culture plays important role in increasing sustainability of business because when employees and management has good and positive organization cultutre and follow business rules and regulations and focus on customer's needs then they are able to run business for long.

innovate and focus on competitive advantage-

Competitive advantage is important because it gives leadership to companies in market for a period of time. they innovate their products or services so that customers remain in company for long period of time.

2-the primary differences between an organic and mechanistic organization are-

organic organizations are like human body where each body part play important roles like each employees are valued and given importance in decision making. while Mechanistic is like machine where the top management controls all the activities of lower employees.

the flow of communication in organic is like network structre which comes from many directions but in mechanistic structure,The flow of communication from upper management comes and goes to lower management.

there is wider span of control in organic structure and Work is divided into general tasks and there is little or no specialisation while in Mechanistic structure narrow span of control. alsoThere is intense division of labour and work is divided into specialised tasks.

i think the mechanistic organization is easier to manager because there is clear roles and responsibilties to each employee,. they know whom to report and whom to communicate in what situations while in organic is like giving work to lower level in which they will be complexity of power, conflict of interest, politics in organization.
