Proteins often fold in a way that the hydrophobic residues are buried in the core, and not exposed to the solvent. Glycoproteins have sugar molecules attached post-translationally to a protein molecule. These sugar groups have many hydroxyl groups. These hydroxyl groups impart hydrophilic character to glycoproteins, and not hydrophobic property.
