3) the mutation is in a gene that codes for the subunit of complex IV. different complexes on the inner mitochondrial membrane is involved in the electron transport chain so the electron transport will be affected by the mutation.

glycolysis and fermentation occur in the cytosol, TCA cycle occurs in the mitochondrial matrix.
