Titration of a weak acid with a strong base is as follows:

The titration of a weak acid with strong base is the direct transfer of protons from weak acid molecules to strong base ions. The reaction for the titration of weak acid with strong base is as

follows:

\(\mathrm{CH}_{3} \mathrm{COOH}+\mathrm{OH}^{-} \longrightarrow \mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O}+\mathrm{CH}_{3} \mathrm{COO}^{-}\)

Maximum buffer capacity is reached when as much as acid has been added to convert half of weak base to its conjugate acid. Therefore, volume required to reach maximum buffer capacity is as follows:

\(\mathrm{V}=0.5 \mathrm{~V}_{\mathrm{e}}\)

Here, \(\mathrm{V}\) is volume of the titrant, and \(\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{e}}\) is the volume at the equivalence point of titration.
