Not sure if I answered these correctly...

5. In 20 words or less, how are alpha helix and beta sheet structures held together?

- Hydrogen bonds?

6.Which of the following amino acids would least likely be found in an alpha helix structure of a protein? Phenylalanine, Glycine, Proline or Histidine?

I don't understand this question.... Please help :(

7. One of the interactions involved in tertiary structure is ion-ion attraction. Name two amino acids that would interact with each other to form this attraction.

- Again, I don't get this one.. :(

8. One of the interactions involved in tertiary structure is disulfide bonding. Name the amino acid involved in this kind of interaction.

Answer 5: The beta sheets and alpha helices are joined together by Hydrogen bonding between side chains of corresponding amino acids.

Answer 6: Phenylalanine is least expected in alpha helix structure becuase of its complex geometry, hence it cannot fit-in the condensed structure of an alpha helix.

Answer 7: Ionic interaction occur between a negetive and positive charged side groups of two amino acids. one such common pair is formed by lysine and methionine.

Answer 8: Cystein is involved in disulfide bonding since it contains free H-S- groups.
