All of the following are true about the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid except _______

  • complementary base pairing between the nitrogenous bases from two strands of nucleotides forms the secondary structure of DNA

  • a single nucleotide has a phosphate group, pentose sugar, and nitrogenous base. The primary structure of DNA consists of nitrogenous bases sticking out from the backbone

  • phosphodiester bonds connect deoxyribonucelotides in the primary structure of DNA

  • nucleotides consist of a phosphate group, pentose sugar, and nitrogenous base. The primary structure of DNA has a sugar-phosphate backbone.

  • deoxyribonucleotides consist of a nitrogenous base and a pentose sugar with the nitrogenous bases covalently bonded to make the primary structure

Answer #1

a nucleotide consists of a nitrogenous base, phosphate group, pentose sugar. In DNA the pentose sugar is deoxyribose.

the nucleotides are linked together by the phosphodiester linkages, phosphodiester linkage is formed between the 5` phosphate group and 3`-OH group of the deoxyribose, the stretch of nucleotides is the primary structure, the secondary structure is formed by the base-pairing between the complementary DNA sequences, nitrogen bases of the nucleotides on the two strands interact via hydrogen bonding.

so the answer is deoxyribonucleotides consists of a nitrogenous base and a pentose sugar with the nitrogenous bases covalently bonded to make the primary structure.

Question 1 1 pts Why is it important for DNA to have complementary base pairing? O Complementary base pairing allows base pairs to be packed in the most energetically favorable arrangement inside of the double helix structure. O Complementary base pairing will pair a purine with a purine, which are a similar width, thus they are able to hold the sugar-phosphate backbone an equal distance apart along the DNA molecule o Complementary base pairing is only important for maintaining the...
