How can long-term use of one drug (such as aspirin) increase your tolerance to another, different drug (such as alcohol) that you have never encountered?
Drug tolerance gets developed when you take one particular drug for a long time and in high amount.
It is developed via two methods :-
1. The body has synthesised many enzymes for metabolism of that drug, that as soon as is taken, it's get metabolised and cannot bind to receptors so as to produce it's affect. So body has to taken more amount so that it get get binds to receptors and signaling pathway can occur.
2. Body switch off its receptor for that drug, so heavy consumption of that drug, do not allow any effect on the person.
Now if tolerance is increasing for a different drug, that body has never encountered it means that both the drugs have similar structure, and since receptor are off, the second drug needs to be taken at high amount.
It can be also possible, that both the drugs are metabolised by same enzyme, whiich also led to increased tolerance of second drug
The number of smooth endoplasmic reticulum gets increased in body, and they are responsible for detoxification, and they function in broad manner.( Same effect on more than one type of.drug)
