These photoreceptor cells are found in the retina of the eye. Both of them can absorb light, or photons and carries them forward through the neurons, to the brain, via a process called photo-transduction. The rod cells are much more abundant in number than the cone cells, and are responsible for low-light and peripheral vision. Whereas, cone cells are responsible for much more brighter vision.
