Answer #1

1) Option 'c' is the correct answer.

Bacterial genome usually consists of a single, circular chromosome condensed in the cytoplasm in the region known as nucleoid, while eukaryotes have multiple linear chromosomes inside the nucleus separate from the cytoplasm. The number of chromosome is distinct for each species in eukaryotes.

2) Option 'a' is the correct answer.

The capsule is the outer covering in the bacterial cells that helps it is adhering to the surface and also protects it from harsh environments. In some cases, it also consists of antigens that are responsible for pathogenicity of the bacteria.

3) Option 'd' is the correct answer.

Chloroplasts are one of the type of plastids which are responsible for photosynthesis owing to their capability of carrying chlorophyll. The other types of plastids include amyloplasts which are responsible for storage of starch and chromoplasts which are responsible for colors other than green in plants. Chloroplasts have their own DNA and are capable of replicating on their own. They are double membrane orgenelles similar to mitochondria.

Bacterial cells, such as E. coli, are surrounded by a fluid plasma membrane and enclosed by a rigid cell wall that protects the cell from damage. You will recall that there is no nuclear envelope in prokaryotic cells, but rather a “nucleoid region” with a single chromosome that is continuous (circular), not linear, as in eukaryotes. All of the genes required for basic survival and reproduction are found in the main chromosome. In addition to the main chromosomes, some DNA...

    4. Development of organelles Aa Aa 3 Modern eukaryotic cells are very complex and have many features that allow them to function efficiently. These complexities took a very, very long time to evolve and likely progressed as a series of small improvements that were naturally selected. For example, modern eukaryotic cells have internal membranes surrounding their organelles and the nucleus. This arrangement likely arose when the cellular membranes of some ancient bacterial cells accidentally folded to become internal membranes. Which...
