Marine snail's shell are composed mostly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) with only a small quantity of protein--no more than 2 percent.

So, the mineral is CaCO3.

Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) reacts with acid to form CO2, H2O and Ca salt. Let the acid be HCl.
Hence, the rection of CaCO3 and HCl is represented as

CaCO3 + 2HCl -----> CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
