Length of the hour hand = L = 8.8 cm = 88 mm

Time taken by the hour hand to complete one revolution = T = 12 hours = 12 x (60x60) sec = 43200 sec

Angular speed of the hour hand = \omega

\omega = \frac{2\pi }{T}

2π 43200

\omega = 1.454 x 10-4 rad/s

Tangential speed of the tip of the hour hand = V

V = \omegaL

V = (1.454x10-4)(88)

V = 1.3 x 10-2 mm/s

Tangential speed of the tip of the hour hand = 1.3 x 10-2 mm/s
