Answer #1

Answer: C

The ratio of the respiratory surface area of gills to the volume of fish = Respiratorysur facear ea Volumeoffish

We can see that the graph is linear. Without going to mathematics, we can think by an example.

Respiratory Surface areal of gills at x o i 4 5 vol of 2 3 rol of fish In this example, we can see that when the value of the volume is 2 respiratory surface area of gills is 2 and when the volume of fish is 4 the respiratory surface area of gills is 4 (forget about values and units)

The ratio for the first case = \frac{2}{2}=1

The ratio for the second case \frac{4}{4}=1

We can see that even if the value of coordinates has changed, it didn't affect its ratios. it is because the graph follows the equation y=mx+c. It is linear. Meaning that as y changes x also changes in the same degree or linearly. So the y/x ratio remains the same!
