Answer #1

Frederick Griffith was a British bacteriologist, whose focus was the pathology and epidemiology of bacterial pneumonia. Griffith conducted experiments on Streptococcus pneumoniae and mice. As result of his experiment, he identified that some hereditary material can able to transform from the virulent cells (S cells) to the nonvirulent cells (R cells). So he concluded that hereditary material (DNA) must be reproduced faithfully, not have variation and carry information. But he did not conclude that hereditary material must be able to code for a phenotype. So, from the given options, hereditary material must be able to code for a phenotype is not present in Griffith's conclusions.

GENETICS (#21:: included is the paragraph discussing figure 25.2b & figure 25.2b, and question #21) Humans are not unique in their extensive variation (Figure 25.2a); almost all organisms exhibit phenotypic vari- ation. For instance, lady beetles are highly variable in their spotting patterns (Figure 25.2b), mice vary in color, snails have different numbers of stripes on their shells, and plants vary in their susceptibility to pests. Much of this phenotypic variation is hereditary. Recognition of the extent of pheno- typic...
