Distance between two genes = recombination frequency = total number of recombinant gametes

Total number of parental gametes = 100 - total number of recombinant gametes

In this question, there are 2 types of recombinant phenotypes, each with a frequency of 4%. So, the total number of recombinant progenies will be 4 + 4 = 8%. Therefore, the distance between the two gene locus will be 8 map units.

To determine the distance between two genes, you need to focus only on the total number of Recombinant progenies.
