The numerical data above has been graphed. Based on this data, please answer the following questions:
1.What was your predication for the
optimum pH of the glucose oxidase?
Is your result what you predicted? If not give an explanation as to
why.
2.At which pH did glucose oxidase have
the highest enzyme activity?
In your own words, explain why glucose oxidase activity was highest
at this pH
3. Which pH was the most acidic one in this experiment? What effect did this pH have on glucose oxidase enzyme activity (basically, how does the glucose oxidase activity at this pH compare to the activity at the other pHs)? In your own words, explain why this pH had the effect that you observed.
4. Which pH was your most basic one? What effect did this pH have on glucose oxidase enzyme activity (basically, how does the glucose oxidase activity at this pH compare to the activity at the other pHs)? In your own words, explain why this pH had the effect that you observed.
1) From the values, slope was calculated.
pH | Slope |
3 | 0.0025 |
6 | 0.0085 |
7 | 0.0089 |
10 | 0.0077 |
When slope versus pH was ploted-
According to the curve, the optimal pH is pH=7. The peak is at pH= 7, that is, the value is reached at pH=7. Thus the optimal pH of glucose oxidase is 7 according to the plot.
The known value for the optimal pH of glucose oxidase is 5.5. It has a broad pH range of 4 to 7.
2) According to the plot, the pH at which glucose oxidase shows highest activity is ph= 7. This is because most of the physiological pH is 7.
3) The acidic pH in this experiment was pH=3. The activity of glucose oxidase at pH=3 is the lowest.
4) The most basic pH in this experiment is 10. The activity drops at this pH.

Please answer the following questions/fill in the data tables based on the following experiment. EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE: Place sodium hydroxide (2.500 g) in a 100 mL Erlenmeyer flask and add water (25.0 mL) and ethanol (20.0 mL). Add a magnetic stirrer bar and stir until all the NaOH has dissolved. To a second reaction vessel, add benzaldehyde (2.650 g, 0.025 mol) and acetone (0.725 g, 0.0125 mol). Add approximately half of the aldehyde-ketone solution to the sodium hydroxide solution, and stir...
Epigenetics Video: Please go to the link for the video on D2L on epigenetics and then answer the questions: You may need to watch the video more than once to find the answers. Answer the following questions. Twins: 1. What is one reason why identical twins may not look or act the same? 2. Why would one twin having a disease make it more likely for the other twin to have the disease? 3. Why would they not always have...
Please read the case provided below and answer the following question: In 2007, JetBlue was a booming young airline with a strong reputation for outstanding service. In fact, the low-fare airline referred to itself as a customer service company that just happened to fly planes. But on Valentine's Day 2007, JetBlue was hit by the perfect storm-literally-of events that led to an operational meltdown. One of the most severe storms of the decade covered JetBlue's main hub at New York's...
