How did Kennedy's policies represent a shift from Eisenhower's conservatism to a more liberal view of government's role in American life. Cite economic, social, and political examples.
During John F. Kennedy's serving period, his policies indeed
indicated a shift from Eisenhower's conservatism to a more liberal
view of the government. These claims are further strengthened by a
variety of different changes in the economic, social and political
policies. Kennedy's focus on medical care and fighting poverty
indicated that he cared about even those on the bottom of the
pyramid. He also made civil rights lower priorities than others. He
also gave Americans tax cuts which indicate a major shift from the
policies of his predecessor.
Kennedy proclaimed to be a proud liberal and described a liberal as
someone who cared about people, health and education. He mentioned
in some of his speeches that he was a proud liberal. After the
policy of Eisenhower's that focused essentially on free markets,
Kennedy gave special focus to spur growth and create jobs along
with the economic progress. These are some of the examples from
where we can conclude that the there was a shift from conservatism
to a more liberal point of view of life under John F. Kennedy.
