The geneti code comes in th eform of triplets called "CODONS" that each spell out one amino acid. Through testing it was discovered that the code had degeneracy (some amio acids coded by more than one codon ) that meant several triplets could all produce the same amino acid. But the opposite is not true, each triplet, each triplet only ever encodes or spells one amino acid. This property is called "GENETIC CODE IS UNIVERSAL". Lastly, the code has start and stop triplets and is nearly universal.
