Answer #2

all over the plasma membrane of the neuron.

Neurons contain N or P/Q -type calcium channels. Though they are present throught the neuron, their distibution greatley varies with the region. They are mostly concentrated in the nerve terminals. Depolarization potential causes the opening of voltage gated calcium channels at the nerve terminals and influx calcium ions (exocytosis) causes release of neurotransmitter from the synaptic vesicles.

Some of the calcium channels are laos located at the bas eof dendrites which are responsible for dendritic calcium spikes during action potential bursts.
