When it comes to Information Technology (IT), the
factors that influence one's employability in the current labor
environment are:
* The main factor Information Technology (IT) being the booming
industry.
* The factor it is the digital age.
* The factor everything is digitized or computerized, especially
the data.
* The factor IT (Information Technology) and other related jobs are
office-based, white-collared, comfortable, easy at least physically
as there is not much physical strain, stress, or pressure,
etc.
* The factor, IT has a lot of demand in most of the products,
services, and solutions across many and almost all industries,
domains, and enterprises, businesses, or companies, for which a lot
of manpower or workforce is required, requiring a lot of aspirants
and employees working in the industry, which in turn increases the
salary compensation for the employees to be increased to many folds
due to the demands when compared to other conventional job types,
descriptions, roles, responsibilities, tasks, skills, knowledge,
and work experience.
* For one to be employable in the current labor environment,
especially in the IT industry, he/she should be tech-savvy, should
have an educational qualification in Computer Science, or at least
in IT, or any of the other related branches of Science.
* One should have college graduation which is recommended and is
minimum, and a post-graduation would be a bonus to both, the
employee and the company he/she would be working for.
* His/her employability is also influenced by the factor of him/her
holding a technical certification (vendor-neutral or
vendor-specific) in different technologies, or at least in the
technology he/she would be working for.
* His/her past work experience.
* His achievements at work, projects (both, in college and in
companies he/she worked for), accomplishments, contributions, etc.,
would be another factor.
* His/her learning thirst to learn technologies, products,
etc.
* His/her flexibility is learning new technologies and different
technologies.
* His/her ability to change to things, projects, tasks, roles,
technologies, etc.
* Able to withstand working long hours.
* Willingness to work overtime if required.
* Willingness to work during the weekends or week-offs.
* To some extent flexible to relocate.
* To some extent flexible to travel from 0 to 100%.
* Travelling to different locations, regions, countries to client
sites, training, meetings, events, projects, etc.
* Networking with colleagues, mentors, etc.
* The person should have the knowledge and work experience in
Computing.
* He/she should be able to use IT resources, systems, applications,
software, hardware, networks, etc., for work purpose, even in
his/her personal life as a user, and should be able to troubleshoot
any technical issues at the basic to intermediate level.
* Programming, coding, or scripting experience would be a bonus
point.
