Question

A wing is mounted in the center of a wind tunnels rectangular test section of height H and span b. Velocity profiles are measured upstream and downstream of the test section. The wing is generating a wake of extent H/4, with a minimum velocity Viv/2 measured in the centerline. The velocity in the wake linearly increases to VoUTEXT and then remains uniform up to the test section walls. a) Calculate the ratio between VoUTEXT and VIN considering the flow to be incompressible and steady b) If = 10m s. H = 1 m and the pressure is approximately the same both at the inlet and outlet sections, calculate the drag coefficient of the airfoil, assuming that the wing span coincides with the span of the wind tunnels test section b and that the chord is c-lm.
