1) Osteon
Osteon is the units in the compact tissue.Osteons are cylindrical structures that contain a mineral matrix and living osteocytes connected by canaliculi, which transport blood.
2) Central Canal
The osteon consists of a central canal called the osteonic canal. It is surrounded by concentric rings of matrix. The osteonic canals contain blood vessels that are parallel to the long axis of the bone.
3)cement Line
The cement line, which is the interface between the fibers and extraosteonal bone matrix. cement line is a region of reduced mineralization which may contain sulfated mucosubstances.
4) Lamella
Each osteon consists of concentric layers, or lamellae, of compact bone tissue that surround a central canal. lamellae are arranged parallel to the surface; these are called circumferential lamellae.
5) Lacuna
Nucleated bone cells and their processes, contained in the bone lacuna and their canaliculi respectively. lacuna is a small space containing an osteocyte in bone or chondrocyte in cartilage.
6) Canaliculus
Canaliculus is the small channels that radiate from the lacunae to the osteonic canal to provide passageways through the hard matrix.
7) Interstitial Lamella
The bone between the osteons is called interstitial lamellae.
8) Osteocyte
Osteocytes occupy spaces (lacuna) in the bone matrix. It is maintain the bone matrix. It is at an earlier stage of development formed the bone matrix.
