CvO2 stands for Central venous oxygen saturation. This is oxygen present in mixed venous blood.

It depends on SvO2 (amount of oxygen bound to Hb) and hemoglobin concentration in blood.

CvO2 is always measured from pulmonary artery. Reduced CvO2 means reduced oxygen in venous blood; this will not lead to increase in metabolic rate. It can be hyperventilation. In hyperventilation, the body respires fastly; so, enough oxygen is not able to enter the lung.
