1. Walmart always had an edge in sales of offline groceries (brick and mortar) but was lagging behind Amazon in ecommerce (online sales). Walmart has realized its weakness and is working towards improving its online business specially in groceries where it has an edge due to its deep supply chain and large network of suppliers. Realizing that its competitors like Amazon are offering faster delivery service like Prime Services , Walmart too has has started the same day delivery service. This way Walmart can retain its edge in sale of groceries though online channels. Even in time of Covid-19 Walmart has started "Express Delivery" Service that delivers groceries in 2 hours.

2. Amazon has launched Amazon Go brick and mortar offline retail that it touts as future of retail. Here customers do not have to wait in queue for billing. The customers have to come into the store, pick what they like and then simply walk away. It works by combination of computer vision, fusion sensor and deep learning technology. The technology can detect when products are removed from the shelf and added to the customer's virtual cart. When the customer walks away with the product the customer invoice is created on the amazon app and his amazon account is debited automatically.
