Answer #1

M/Z values of a molecule denotes mass divided by charge number where M stands for mass and Z stands for the charge. In mass analysis, an electron is taken from molecules to creat single charged ions or two electrons taken to make a double + charged ion. The horizontal axis in a mass spectrum is expressed in units of m/z.

Trypsin is the enzyme which digests proteins to peptides. We mostly get single charged ions for tryptic peptides in solid phase or MALDI and +2 or +3 charged ions for tryptic peptides in liquid phase or ESI.

SWISS-PROTT is a curated protein seqoence database. Its main function is to provide a high and accurate level of information regarding description of the function of a protein, its domain structure, variants, post translational modifications etc. It also has a high level of integration with other databases which help in cross references with other databases. It also tries to describe the Human Proteomics Initiative [HPI] according to high quality and standards.

So , SWISS-PROT will be the most reliable database to put your inputs in.
