Ingestion of uncouplers such as 2,4-dinitrophenol causes profuse sweating and an increase in body temperature. Explain this phenomenon in molecular terms. What happens to the ratio of ATP produced per NADH consumed in the presence of uncouplers?

Ans ) High Concentration of uncouplers decrease the P/O ratio nearly to zero . The body struggles to make sufficient ATP hence more fuel must be oxidised to generate same amount of ATP .The extra heat released by this oxidation raises the body temperature.

As described above the Phosphate /Oxygen (P/O) ratio decrease and reach near to zero.
