Answer #1

Technology and the Virtues by- A philosophical guide to a Future Worth Wanting by Shannon Vallor. The book better concentrates on the close links between technology allied with the so called development and on other hand, the ethical aspects and issues reflecting the signifance of virtues.

The part 2 of the book elegantly focuses on the meanings and illustrations of the virtue frameworks pioneered by Buddist philosophies, Confucianism and Aristotlian virtue ethics.

The perennial facets of these traditions are analysed and applied with deep thought process to the contemporary world and the possibilities to elevate constructive behaviour are sought after.

Various cultural, geographical, historical and social paraneters are throught and corelated to balance of the technology and virtues.

Moral attention, appropriate expansion of morality and prudential judgement are the three pillars elaborated in chapter 3. This chapter also reflects a beautiful comparison between prudential judgement by Aristotle and the concept of skillful ways in Buddhism.
