Answer #1

JIT is an important way to reduce the inventory while assuring material availability. Some of the supplier relationship techniques:

· VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) = Under this, Vendor manages the inventory on behalf of customer to ensure material availability. The stock report at supplier can be reviewed by customer to have visibility

· Forecast = The requirement can be shared well in advance so that supplier can maintain sufficient stock of material

· Integrated systems = The changes in requirement, supplies etc. must be timely communicated. Hence, having an integrated system between supplier and buyer can help to better coordinate and synergize for ensuring material availability

These can help to ensure material availability
