Answer #1

The presence of peacocks elaborate tail is an example of sexual selection not natural selection. Natural selection is the “struggle for existence”, sexual selection is the “struggle for mates”. Sexual selection attributed the development of so-called “secondary sexual characteristics” to females’ choices of mates, creating a positive feedback mechanism over generations. According to Darwin, the elaborated peacocks tail is mainly a result of sexual selection and relates to the fact of secondary sexual characteristics based on whole presenting a more gorgeous appearance.
