Answer
The movement of water between cells to regulate many biological process is through water channel. Aquaporin is the known water channel present on the cell membrane. It allows only movement of water molecule through the channel and restrict movement of ions. It composed of six transmembrane alpha helix structure. It contain two hydrophobic loops. It shape is like ‘hourglass’ narrow in the middle and broader at the ends. There are presence of ar/R selective filter to restrict the molecule other than water in the middle.
It maintain the osmolarity of the cell. The movement of water from its higher concentration to its lower concentration. It can help plants from drought and salt stresses.
According to the above information solute concentration on inside and outside of the cell determine movement of water.
