SOLUTION :


Each second 50 snowballs of mass 0.1 kg each, hit the wall of area 3.0 m x 6.0 m at a speed of 6.0 m/sec. Snowballs do not rebound.


Momentum of 50 snowballs just before hitting the wall 

= 50 * 0.1 * 6.0 

= 30 kg.m/sec 


As snowballs do not rebound, the speed of snowballs after hitting the wall = 0 m/sec .


So change of momentum = 30 - 0 = 30 kg.m/sec = 30 N/sec


This results into impulse on the wall = F * t 


Change of momentum in 1 second = Impulse created during 1 sec 

=> 30 * 1 = F * 1 

So, F = 30 N 


Pressure = F/A = 30 / (3 * 6) = 5/3 = 1.667 N/m^2 = 1.667 Pascals.


Pressure on the wall is 1.667 pascals. (ANSWER).
