-First of all the 30S subunit binds to the shine Dalgarno sequence present on mRNA, then the N-formylMet-tRNA binds to the initiation codon AUG with complementary base pairing which is followed by binding of 50S large subunit to N-formylMet-tRNA. Then the second upcoming amino-acyl-tRNA binds in the A-site to proceed elongation of the polypeptide chain.
