Answer #1

a. the heaviest alkaline earth metal b. the lightest metalloid in Group 5A(15) c. the coinage metal in Group 1B(11) whose atoms have the fewest electrons d. the halogen in Period 4

a) The alkaline earth metals are six chemical elements in column (group) 2 of the Periodic table. They are beryllium (Be), magnesium(Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), and radium (Ra). Their Atomic weight are 9, 24, 40, 87, 137 and 226 respectively

So the heaviest alkaline Earth metal is Radium.

b) Group 5a/ (15) of the periodic table is the nitrogen family and includes the following compounds:

nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), arsenic (As), antimony (Sb), and bismuth (Bi).

A metalloid is a chemical element with properties in between, those of metals and nonmetals.

Arsenic and Antimony are metalloids and Arsenic is the lightest metalloid.

c) the coinage metal in Group 1B(11) whose atoms have the fewest electrons

Group 1B /(11) element are copper (Cu), silver (Ag), and gold (Au). Their atomic number representing the number of protons and electrons are 29, 47 and 79 respectively. So the atom which has the fewest electrons will be Copper.

d) the halogen in Period 4

A period 4 element is the elements in the fourth row (or period) of the periodic table of the elements.

The halogen in this row belonging to group 17 is Bromine.
