The capacitors C and C3 are in parallel. Therefore, the effective capacitance is, The effective capacitance i Cg-GG-= (5)(8.4

The effective capacitance of the two capacitors that are in parallel is 8.4 micro farads.

This is in series with 5.0 muF. The effective capacitance will be Ceq=(5)(8.4)/5+8.4=3.1 muF

The charge is q=CeqV=5.96e-5 C

The same charge appears across the parallel combination..

The potential drop across the combination is,

V23=q/C23=7.1V

The charge across C2 is

q2=C2V=1.7X10-5C
