2. Some alcohols are soluble in water because of the presence of -OH functional group which immediately tends to form strong hydrogen bonding with water molecules.Thus we can say water being polar attracts the OH group of alcohols and makes them soluble.

3. Alcohols may be classified as primary, secondary, or tertiary, according to which they are classified with respect to the carbon of the alkyl group is bonded to the hydroxyl group. Most alcohols are colourless liquids or solids at room temperature. They can also be classified according to their polarity and some kind of specific reactions given by them.

4. Structure of Alcohols and Phenols is given as follows :
