b) in the unburning area in front of the flames, to prevent the fire from spreading.[ it is no the answer ]
c) at the base of the flame, immediately above the surface of the burning material.
d) all along your escape route, so that it won't be on fire if you need to use it.
For obtaining maximum effectiveness, the spray from a discharging fire extinguisher should be aimed at the base of the flame, immediately above the surface of the burning material.
The reason behind this is to put off the fuel thats burning at the base which is the main reason for generating flame.
Do not aim at the top of the flames as the spray material gets wasted, as the fuel is burning at the base.
Spraying in the unburnt area in front of flames also doesnot solve the problem, instead spray material gets wasted as the flames keep on burning using the fuel at the base.
Hence the correct option is
(C) at the base of the flame, immediately above the surface of the burning material.
