Answer #1

Shortest Process Time(SPT)

In the Shortest Process Time (SPT) rule, jobs are arranged in the ascending order of their process time. This rule helps to minimize the average work-in-process inventory.

In the First Come First Served (FCFS) rule, jobs are arranged in the order of their receipt or arrival. This rule does not minimize the average work-in-process inventory.

In the Critical Ratio(CR) rule, jobs are arranged in the ascending order of their critical ratio. (Critical ratio = Time left before due date / Total lead time remaining). This rule does not minimize the average work-in-process inventory.

In the Earliest Due Date(EDD) rule, the job with the earliest due date is placed first in the sequence. This rule helps to minimize the average lateness of jobs.
