Answer #1

a) To keep wire at rest, component of magnetic force on wire along incline, should be equal and opposite to that of component of gravitational force on wire along incline. Gravitational force component is downward along incline, so magnetic force component should be upward along incline. Magnetic force is perpendicular to wire as well as magnetic field. Since field is vertical, foce has to horizontal. To have component upward along incline, force should be as shown in figure. Direction of force is given by l×B, l is vector along direction of current in wire. Hence current should be from right to left in given figure.

The figure shows a wood cylinder of mass m = 0.269 kg and length L = 0.0867 m, with N = 21.0 turns of wire wrapped around it longitudinally, so that the plane of the wire coil contains the long central axis of the cylinder. The cylinder is released on a plane inclined at an angle ? to the horizontal, with the plane of the coil parallel to the incline plane. If there is a vertical uniform magnetic field of...

A conductiong bar of mass m is place on two long conducting rails a distance l apart. The rails are inclined at an angle ? with respect to the horizontal, and the bar is able to slide on the rails with negligible friction. The bar and rails are in a uniform and constant magnetic field of magnitude B oriented perpendicular to the incline. A resistor of resistance R connects the upper ends of the rails and completes the circuit as...

What an Executive Summary Is An executive summary is a specific type of document that does two things: it summarizes a research article, and it offers recommendations as to how information from the article can be used. Some long reports can contain an executive summary section, as indicated in the Pearson handbook. Write a 2 pahe Executive Summary In business contexts, an executive summary is always written for a specific purpose: to explain the information in the article to a...

Because of its inability to control film and personnel costs in its radiology department, Sanger General Hospital wants to replace its existing picture archive and communication (PAC) system with a newer version. The existing system, which has a current book value of $2,250,000, was purchased three years ago for $3,600,000 and is being depreciated on a straight-line basis over an eight-year life to a salvage value of $0. This system could be sold for $800,000 today. The new PAC system...
