Reflection is a therapy technique in which the therapist restates what the client says rather than interpreting those statements. The therapist uses this technique to allow their clients to continue to talk and have insights without interference of the therapist’s interpretations and possible biases.

Here is an example of how it is manifested in a therapy:

Client: I am just not good to nobody, never was and never will be

Therapist: Feeling that now, that you are no good to yourself, no good to anybody. Never will be good to anybody. Just that you are completely worthless? Those are really lousy feelings. Just feel that you are no good at all?
