Out of the four options, option C is the most appropriate one to be true. Following are the reasons of true/false for the different options:

a) There are a total of two DNA double helices when two chromosomes are referred. However, they are associated with a number of histone proteins which make the chromatin and following it, the chromosome. So, one can not say that there are "only" two DNA double helices.

b) The box contains homologous chromosomes i.e. one chromosome from each parent has been acquired. None of the two is duplicated from the other one.

c) The statement is true that the chromosomes are homologous i.e same chromosome, one acquired from each parent in a diploid organism.

d) There is no pairing during the metaphase. These two homologous chromosomes will assemble at the metaphase plate and proceed, one in each daughter cell during the anaphase of cell cycle
