Coat protein serve to mediate the budding event as they give shape to the transport vesicle and assist in directly or indirectly selecting the set of cargo molecules.

Coat proteins are recruited to membrane from a cytosolic pool by specific small GTP-binding proteins.

Coat proteins, cargo, GTP binding proteins and membrane receptor are included in the newly formed vesicle.

Dynamin is involved in vesicle pinch off
