a) Creep is the natural tendency of a material to gradually move or permanently deform as a result of mechanical stress.

Parameters effecting creep:

  • Temperature: Creep in service is usually affected by changing conditions of temperature
  • Stress:Changing conditons of loading

The creep mechanism if different for metals ,plastics , wood etc.
