1. Prokaryotic transcription occurs in the cytoplasm and the process of transcription and translation are coupled ie., they occur simultaneously in the cytoplasm of the prokaryotes.

1. Eukaryotic transcription occurs in the nucleus and the process of transcription and translation are not coupled in eukaryotes. In eukaryotes transcription occurs in the nucleus and translation occurs in the cytoplasm.

2. In prokaryotes, a single type of RNA polymerase enzyme synthesizes all different types of RNA (mRNA, tRNA, rRNA) in the cell.

2. In eukaryotes there are three different types of RNA polymerase enzymes. RNA polymerase I helps in the synthesis of rRNA, RNA polymerase II helps in the synthesis of mRNA, and RNA polymerase III helps in the synthesis of tRNA and 5S rRNA.
