Help with part B, please!
I have worked part a (answer below) and drew Mohr's circle, but I simply do not understand "b" at all. I know what hydrostatic pressure is but I just do not understand what is asking or even how to implement. Thanks!
Problem:
A stress element in plane stress encounters x = 20
MPa, y =
-10 MPa, and xy = 13
MPa.
(a) Determine the three principal stresses and maximum shear
stress.
( My answer: 1=
24.8 MPa, 2= 0, 3= -14.8 MPa, 1/3=
19.8 Mpa, 2/1=
12.4 Mpa, 2/3=
7.42Mpa)
(b) Using a Mohr’s circle diagram, explain the effect of superimposing a hydrostatic pressure p on the principal stresses and maximum shear stress.

Previous part results below iv. Using the results in part (iii) above, develop Mohr's circle for the 2D state of plane stress at point P. Your Mohr's circle does not need to be developed to scale. (6 points) Use Mohr's Circle that you developed to: • Determine the principal stresses, maximum in-plane shear stress at point P. (6 points) • Determine the orientation ( degrees) of the planes on which these stresses act, relative to the reference x-axis at point...
Please Answer the remainer of the questions parts. thank you! Part 1 Your Answer Correct Answer Correct Consider a point in a structural member that is subjected to plane stress. Normal and shear stresses acting on horizontal and vertical planes at the point are shown. Assume stress magnitudes of S - 55ksi, 5-15 ks, and S. - 14 ksi. m. Construct Mohr's circle for this state of stress on paper and use the results to answer the questions in the...
