Note -

Polygenic inheritance is the type of inheritance pattern which is controlled by more than one genes. This combined effect of multiple genes is a continuous variations. It is also under the control of the environment. Skin colour in human is polygenic trait. It is controlled by three genes, each gene is having two alleles. So there are six alleles in total. Apart from the genes, skin colour is also influenced by the temperature of the area where we live. If the area is very hot then we tend to have a darker colour and if the area is colder then we tend to have a lighter colour.

This creates a continuous pattern of variation in skin colour. From very light to light to medium to dark to very dark.
