if the quantity of heat supplied to a system is capable of doing work , then the quantity of heat absorbed by the system is equal to the sum of the increases in the internal energy of the system and the external work done it"

dU=increase in the internal energy

dW=the external work done

the heat infulences in the properties of materials

now we explain the heat required in different states

if we consider a ice that is solid material in this case the molecule is closely packed so if we apply heat energy to the ice the molecule is get vibrated and it get free space so the ice is converted to water here the molecule get some free space now we apply heat energy to the water the molecule get completely free than compared to liquid so the water is convert to steam

finialy the heat is applying different in different cases
