You are helping design part of an employee database for XYZ Inc, that links employees to their earned educational degrees and you are tasked with drawing the Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) in Crow’s Foot notation. Entity: EMPLOYEE, EDUCATION, and BRIDGE. Business Rules: An employee can have one or more educational degrees (BS, MS, MBA, BA…) Each education degree is associated to one or more employees (more than one employee may have their MBA, BS…) This is a many-to-many relationship between EMPLOYEE and EDUCATION – which will be turned into two one-to-many relationships. This resulting ERD will have a one-to-many relationship between EMPLOYEE and BRIDGE entities and a one-to-many relationship between EDUCATION and BRIDGE entitites.

Attributes: EMP_NUM, EMP_NAME, EMP_HIREDT, ED_CODE, ED_DESCRIPT, ED_YEAR. Where: EMP_NUM is a number that’s unique to each employee.

ER_CODE is a letter code (MBA) that’s unique to each educational degree type employees have.

EMP_HIREDT is date employee was hired, ED_DESCRIPT is description of educational degree (Bachelors of Science) and ED_YEAR is the year that an employee earned their educational degree.
