SOLUTION:
From given data,
A wireless communication system has a receiver sensitivity of -15 dB W. The loss due to distance is 12 dB. The gain of the transmitter and receiver antennas are 5 dB and 3 dB respectively. What is the required transmission power in dB W and in W
given that,
receiver sensitivity = -15 dB W
= 15 dB m
receiver sensitivity (dB) = receiver sensitivity(dB m) - 30
= 15 dB m - 30
= -15 dB
Noice Margin = Received power - receiver sensitivity
Let us assume , Noice margin = 3dB
3 dB = Received power - (-15)
3 dB = Receive power + 15dB
3dB - 15 dB = Received power
Received power (dB) = transmitter power (dB) + Gain of transmitter antenna (dB) + Gain of receiver antenna (dB) - loss due to distance (dB)
-12 dB = transmitter power (dB) + 5 dB + 3 dB - 12 dB
transmitter power (dB) = -8 dB
Transmitter power (dB m) = transmitter power (dB) + 30
= -8 dB + 30
= 22 dB m
Transmitter power (dB W) = -8 dB w
= 158 * 10 -3 W
