Answer: Below laws I identified best for my organization,

Law: Right to sick leave.

Example: Fear for salary cut during sick is biggest burden on mind. So, as many times employees are working more than assigned hours, it is responsibility of organization to support them in their bad time.

Law: Employing a worker less than 18 years is illegal

Example: This should be illegal. The proven growing period (maturity for understand social responsibility) for human is up to age 18.

Law: Medical insurance at the expense of the employer

Example: This is to save employee from uncertain an expensive illness. Ultimate motive is, the treatment should be flawless (regardless of illness due to personal issue of professional issue)

Law return ticket at the expense of employer once in every two years

Example: Suppose, if company needs the skill people which is coming from other countries and cannot bare the travel cost. This law will benefit them save their earnings.

Law: Right to receive treatment and compensation due to occupational hazards

Example: Suppose the ‘X’ has injured due to mismanagement of organization (may be lack of training), the organization will be solely responsible for treatment.

6)    Since you have been working in your workplace you notice some “Unethical Issues “which you do not report to the higher management. You are afraid for your job but if one employee sees and notices and experiences some ethical issues, do you think he /she must report this to the top management. Do you agree or you do not agree, why or why not.

Answer: My recommendation is he/she must report the “Unethical Issues” to the top management. The reason of recommendation is, company is having certain set of polices for behavioral issues which is influenced by labor law of UAE. We also calls this “Value in Action (VIA)”. So, polices are equally applicable to everyone. In case if any “Unethical Issue” reported, the same should be judge and evaluated considering polices. So, if in rare case, you found company is biased, you can claim this in to labor court of UAE which is having proven records of action against this kind of acts.

7)    The UAE government has passed a law requiring housemaids and domestic servants to be given 12 hours’ rest with weekend offs and a minimum of 36 days leave in one year’s work. Why was this law enacted? Was there any Unethical issues do you think with the working hours of these housemaids?

Answer: The sure thing is “Issues are Unethical”. The general rule for working hours/ day in many developed countries is 8 hour/ day. This rules is having many studies behind it relating human mind, change in actions with time etc. So, law for 12 hour rest to housemaids and domestic servants must be appreciated. In UAE, 60 to 70% workers are coming from outside countries and it is very difficult for them to go on vacation for small time durations. So, 36 days leave/ year is plenty of amount of leave in which they can comfortably travel and spend more time with families. Other big factor for leaves (especially support non-outsiders), housemaids and domestic servants are generally working more in festivals so they also needs the compensation for this.

8)    How will you incorporate a strong sense of Best Corporate Business Ethics in your Organization in case continuous intensive training development is given in your company for more than twenty years is not working at all. What steps will you undertake as a corporate Business Ethics Manager other than training and development which has not worked.

Answer: I am describing my approach in below bullet points,

· I will go back and see why this trainings are not effective. Where are the gaps in training? I will be doing route – cause analysis to identify the potential reasons of failure.

· Upon identifying the reason, I will prepare the action plan to fix issues. The action plan will consist development in training method, fixing on negative an un-ethical behaviors, process establishment (if process is already exists, I will seek improvement in that), fixing of negative environment created etc.

· I will prioritize all these actions on their impact to fix issues (action having higher impact will be taken first).

Apart from training and development, following actions are recommended,

· Set-up of High performance culture. Under this culture, I will be setting up some rules for employees. The rules are directly related to their performance appraisal.

· I will be setting up the performance and development goal for every level of employees which will be directly linked with Organization performance. This goal will be discussed with every employee through their immediate reporting managers in regular intervals. The reports of every discussion will be recorded in system and will be taken out for final appraisal discussion.

· This way employees will be disciplined and will perform as per role given to them.
